Gift Aid
Gift aid is a scheme used by charities and donors to
reclaim tax on charitable donations. This means if you are a taxpayer Drug
Concern can reclaim tax on your recorded donations. This increases the income
to Drug Concern by 22% for example, every £1 you give, Drug Concern
will receive an extra 28p.

Legacies
By leaving a legacy to Drug Concern you can help support people concerned
about someone else’s substance use as well as the development of relationships
within the family through our Working Together programme.
Many people never make a will because they presume that everything will
automatically go to their spouse or children, but unfortunately this is
not always the case. This is why it is very important that you make plans
for the money you leave when you die, however large or small the amount
may be, so that you know that it will go to the people and causes that you
car about most.
Making a will is not as hard as it may first seem, but it is best to get
professional advice. You may already have a solicitor, but if not, someone
you know may be able to recommend one, or you can find a list of solicitors
in the Yellow Pages. It is not expensive to make a will and fees start from
around £50.
There are three main ways to leave a legacy to Drug Concern:
- 1. A pecuniary legacy - a gift of a certain sum of money.
- 2. A specific gift - an item of value such as a house.
- 3. A residuary legacy - a percentage, or all, of what is left over after
your other expenses have been paid.
The following wording would be suitable if you would like to remember
Drug Concern in your will.
“I GIVE the sum of ………. pounds free of
duty to Drug Concern of Ruskin Chambers, 191 Corporation Street, Birmingham,
B4 6RP for the general purpose of Drug Concern and I DIRECT that the
receipt of the person who professes to be the Company Secretary or other
proper officer of Drug Concern for the time being shall be a sufficient
discharge for the same.”
“I GIVE all my property not hereby or by an Codicil hereto
otherwise disposed of subject to payment of my funeral and testamentary
expenses to Drug Concern of Ruskin Chambers, 191 Corporation Street,
Birmingham, B4 6RP for the general purpose of Drug Concern and I DIRECT
that the receipt of the person who professes to be the Company Secretary
or other proper officer of Drug Concern for the time being shall be
a sufficient discharge for the same.”
If you have already made a Will and just wish to make a small alteration
or give an additional legacy, you can do this by making a short supplementary
Will called a ‘Codicil’. It is important though that you
get a solicitor to help you with this, so that you comply with legal
formalities.
If you do decided to leave a gift to Drug Concern or have already included
us in your will, we would be most grateful if you could inform us of
your intentions, as this will help us to plan for the future.
